Physicochemical evolution and evaluation of groundwater quality in Mougheul area (Southwest of Algeria)

Abstract In arid areas, the pressure on water resources and in particular groundwater is rise, mainly due to increasing demand deterioration of quality. this context, present work aims follow annual evolution, between 2009 2019 physicochemical parameters, evaluate quality region Mougheul, by determining data pH, TDS, conductivity concentrations major ions ( Ca +2 , Mg Na + K Cl − HCO 3 SO 4 −2 NO ) 07 points. The results revealed that all levels parameters do not exceed WHO potability standards, except high values were observed at level well W6 which exceeds limits recommended (50 mg /l). diagram Schöeller Berkaloff shows has bicarbonate magnesium facies. representation Piper triangular facies chlorinated calcium sulfate other points have magnesium. SAR show Mougheul excellent for irrigation. classification according Wilcox general good quality, but suitable irrigation requires monitoring evolution salinity.
